HIGH BLOOD SUGAR
CAUSES
Many factors can trigger the increase in blood sugar
level, such as:
- An illness, such as a cold
- Stress
- Eating too much, such as snacking between meals
- A lack of exercise
- Dehydration
- Missing a dose of your diabetes medication, or taking an incorrect dose
- Over-treating an episode of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
- Taking certain medicines, such as steroid medication

SYMPTOMS
High blood sugar does not automatically indicate
diabetes. High blood sugar is only one symptom of diabetes. Some of the most
common symptoms of hyperglycemia are:
- Dry mouth
- Always being hungry
- Increased thirst
- Frequent urination
- Dry and itchy skin
- Daily fatigue or extreme tiredness
- Difficulty concentrating
- Excess abdominal fat/weight gain
- Recurrent infections
- Blurred vision
- Impotence
- Slow healing of cuts and wounds
- Nerve problems
- Stomach problems
